Breeding fish
Hey friends,
This week we had trade offs with the Rocky sisters! Me and Sister Matavusi worked in Gladstone and it was so fun!
We found 3 new people to teach. God is preparing people for us in Gladstone and I'm so grateful for that.
We also went to dinner at this fancy as buffet with the members where we cooked steak on a rock.
On Thursday we had dinner with 2 families in the branch and also an RM from Utah that served here 9 years ago!
The senior couple came to visit us and took us to lunch so that was good to see them again!
We also had dinner with a recent convert in the branch who I'm so impressed with! She's been a member for a couple months and is now reading the Book of Mormon for the 3rd time and has the strongest testimony. Also her 6 year old daughter thought I was 60 years old... the mission sure does age ya.
We also met this lady who is a fish breeder. Her garage is basically full of more fish than there is in the ocean!! And we are going to help her Saturday to clean the tanks so that will be fun.
I also wanted to share a cool talk that I read this week! It's called "Agency and Anger".
It's about how Satan tries to dissociate anger from agency, making us believe that we are victims of an emotion that we cannot control. But in reality being angry is a choice that we consciously make.
"We hear, “I lost my temper.” Losing one’s temper is an interesting choice of words that has become a widely used idiom. To “lose something” implies “not meaning to,” “accidental,” “involuntary,” “not responsible”—careless perhaps but “not responsible.”
“He made me mad.” This is another phrase we hear, also implying lack of control or agency. This is a myth that must be debunked. No one makes us mad. Others don’t make us angry. There is no force involved. Becoming angry is a conscious choice, a decision; therefore, we can make the choice not to become angry. We choose!"
I think this is so important and something that I struggle with sometimes. But it's so important to be 100% responsible for the choices we make.
The gospel is the best!!!
